ACLF welcomes new board members

ACLF welcomes Marissa Vichayapai and Alex Johnson to its Board of Directors.

Marissa is a Programs Director for 21 Progress and loves developing immigrant youth and youth of color for leadership with a social justice and progressive lens. She believes this work is of the utmost importance to rising youth, who will peek at a time when our world will be faced by many of the growing injustices and will need a strong progressive front to protect the rights of the people. Fueled by her commitment to see rising leaders in the community, Marissa wants to extend this line of work to Asian Pacific Islander leaders who will continue to advocate for the values and needs of the API people.

Alex is a Project Engineer with Shen Consulting Inc. and a 2014 graduate of the Community Leaders Program. He graduated from Gonzaga University with a degree in civil engineering, and has a certificate in organizational leadership. During his four years in the program, Alex developed a passion for leadership and personal development and thus sparked his interest in ACLF. His wholesome approach to the leadership development is the result of combining technical skills learned in engineering and project management and soft skills developed through the program. Alex searched for an outlet to become an active member of not only his immediate community but the greater API community in Seattle and found a strong fit with the collaborative approach that ACLF takes. He hopes to continue the good work that board members before him have been able to accomplish.
